Film Lovers Stay Tuned

The event with Bath Film Festival was delightful, and well received by those present at Chapel Arts on November 12. Here you will find some pictures from the performance. Plans are afoot to take the show to further film events, and a new film score project will soon be in the works. Jason Titley, who stepped in at what was nearly the last minute to provide accompaniment, was perfect for the role, playing guitar, mandolin and percussion. He will undoubtedly be a regular fixture of future film events

You can still listen to the BBC Radio 4 programme on Kate Lissauer and Buffalo Gals on Women’s Hour. You’ll find it here, and the feature is at minute 23:30.

There are places remaining on the May residential workshop holiday in Spain, May 12-19, with Dave Bing, Kate, John Whelan, and others, teaching fiddle, banjo, guitar and singing. You won’t find a better, more economical, more fun-filled experiential holiday anywhere! Contact Kate throught his site to enroll. There are pictures in the Gallery (Select the La Fuente gallery page using the little icon at the lower left of the main picture.)

Women’s Hour pays a call and other nice things

Kate was interviewed by BBC Radio 4 Women’s Hour on October 7. She’s joined by Buffalo Gals’ dancer Sara Marshall and ukulele player Sooz Clare. You can listen again on BBC iplayer.  Go to minute 23:30 for my segment.

Please come to an unusual event at Chapel Arts in Bath on Saturday, November 12. It’s called ‘Sounds to Silents’, and Kate has written, and will perform, a live accompaniment to three of Frank Borsage’s early films. She’s accompanied by Peter Dunn. You’ll find details in the events section. Your support will be very much appreciated, by Kate and by Bath Film Festival.

And finally, dates are announced and enrollment open for La Fuente de Musica, Old-Time music workshops in Andalucia. The holiday of a lifetime–according to many former participants! For a taste, look on the Gallery page, click the menu button on the botton left corner of the main image, and choose La Fuente de Musica. Contact Kate through this website contact form for more information and enrollment. All levels of ability are welcome, and we will have classes in fiddle, banjo, guitar, and group singing.

New Venue for Baldock and Letchworth Folk Club

Same great club, fab new venue! If you’re coming on March 30, (and you should) note the new address:

The Orange Tree,
Norton Road,
Baldock,
SG7 5AW

More information is in the events listing–But here’s a high point: The opening act is that powerhouse of banjo singing and building, Dave Stacey!

Welcome to my new website

It is a work still in progress, but you will soon find easily accessible information about all aspects of my musical projects, thanks to the genius and creativity of Neil H.

Buffalo Gals is presently on a break from all performances, and will be until the beginning of 2011. Anyone interested in booking them is very welcome to get in touch now for 2011 events.

BUT, we’ve been recording our third album, and have just returned from a week’s retreat at La Fuente de Musica in Andalucia, where we had spirited away the fabulously talented Josh Clark of Get Real Records to engineer the project. We hope to release it by the end of this year.

I’ll be returning next week to La Fuente de Musica, (El Fonte, Sorbas) along with Johnny Whelan and Peter Dunn to host the residential workshop holiday with Beverly Smith and Carl Jones. These events occur twice yearly at present. In late September and in early May. We have many return campers, and welcome new participants all the time too. At this upcoming camp, we have 7 returning and 7 newcomers, a good blend. All will be friends by the end of the week.
